Recce is a director's viewfinder for iPhone. Pick a sensor and a lens and see that exact field of view — spherical or anamorphic, with expanders and doublers accounted for — then capture reference stills that remember where you stood and what you saw through.

What it does

Real lens matching

Angle of view computed from published sensor dimensions and true focal lengths, including squeeze ratios and rear modifiers. Step through your lens kit with the volume buttons.

Film emulation

A densitometric film look — colour, grain, and halation modelled on how negative and print actually behave, not an overlay filter.

Reference stills

Every frame is captured with its lens, format, and framing burned in, and can be tagged with the location where you found the shot.

Scout libraries

Shots file into projects on the phone. Export contact sheets and storyboards as PDFs when the scout is done.

Made for the hand

Volume buttons step lenses. On iPhone 16, the Camera Control button is the shutter. Landscape both ways.
