SCRATCH TEST

TeamCom support

Get the server up once, then everyone just joins.

Joining

  1. Get the server address and crew password from whoever runs your production's server. On the set's Wi-Fi the address is usually teamcom.local.
  2. Enter the address, your name, and the password, then tap JOIN.
  3. Allow the microphone (to talk) and local network (to find the server on set) when asked.

Talking

Hold your channel to talk to it. Hold another channel to call it; you stay in your own. Tap LISTEN on a channel to hear it alongside yours. Tap the MIC pill, or press your headphones' button, to latch the mic open; do it again to close it.

Common questions

It can't find the server

On set, make sure you're on the same Wi-Fi as the server and that TeamCom is allowed Local Network access (Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network). Off set, use the internet address your server runs on (for example a DuckDNS name). Once you've joined a server, TeamCom remembers both of its addresses and picks the right one itself.

What does RECONNECTING mean?

The network changed or dropped — Wi-Fi to cellular, a dead zone, the server restarting. TeamCom keeps your channels and settings and gets back on by itself, usually within a second or two. If you were holding to talk, you're live again as soon as it's back.

“This server's identity has changed”

TeamCom remembers each server it has joined, so nobody can pretend to be it. If your server was reinstalled, or you're on a different production that uses the same address, choose Trust New Server. If neither is true, don't — ask whoever runs the server.

People hear the room behind me

Leave Hush on in Settings — it removes background voices on the phone before you're sent. For a noisy set, the noise gate in Settings keeps the mic closed until you actually speak.

“Removed from the server”

Someone removed you, or your name signed in on another device. TeamCom won't rejoin on its own in either case; tap JOIN when you're ready.

Running the server

Install TeamCom Server on a Mac on set and follow the setup: server name, admin password, crew password, and whether crew can join from the internet. On the set's network it announces itself as teamcom.local. For access from anywhere, turn on internet access; it asks your router to open the port, and a free DuckDNS name gives it a stable address. Some internet connections (Starlink, 5G home internet, phone hotspots) can't accept incoming connections; the server tells you when that's the case.

Beta feedback

In TestFlight, take a screenshot in the app and tap Share Beta Feedback. Tell us where you were, what network you were on, and what you heard — dropouts, delay, and echo are exactly what we want to hear about.
