The short version
TeamCom doesn't collect your data. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, no third-party SDKs. Scratch Test runs no servers for TeamCom: your voice goes between your phone and the TeamCom server your production runs, encrypted, and never reaches us.
Your production's server
TeamCom connects only to the server address you enter, and to the other addresses that same server tells it about (its local-network and internet addresses). The connection is encrypted with TLS and voice with AES; the app checks the server's identity so it can't be silently swapped for another.
The server is run by your production, not by us. It relays voice live and doesn't record it. So you land back where you were, it keeps the name you joined with, the channel you were last in, and the channels you listen to. Whoever runs the server can see who is connected and manage channels and users.
On your device
The servers you've joined, your name, the crew password, your audio and display settings, and each server's identity and addresses are kept in the app's local storage on your phone. Deleting the app removes them.
Permissions
Microphone — used while you talk, and for the level meter in Settings. Background-voice removal (Hush) runs on the phone; audio is never stored, and leaves the phone only as what you send to your server while talking.
Local Network — to find and connect to the server on the set's network.
Background audio — so you keep hearing the crew with the phone locked.
In Phone pickup mode, the proximity sensor darkens the screen when you hold the phone to your ear, like a call.
Mac apps
The TeamCom desktop app and TeamCom Server check GitHub, where their updates are published, for new versions; GitHub sees the request like any web request. If the server's operator turns on internet access with a DuckDNS name, the server tells DuckDNS its current public address, using the operator's own DuckDNS account.
Beta testing
If you test TeamCom through TestFlight, Apple shares with us the details TestFlight describes when you join — such as your name and email if we invited you, crash reports, and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send. We use these only to fix and improve the app.
Your data
We don't collect your data, so there is nothing for us to share, sell, or retain. What your production's server holds is up to whoever runs it. Email you send us is used only to answer you. If you have questions about any of this, write to us and a person will answer.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
